Scammers Hack Ghana President’s X Account To Promote Crypto Scam

• The verified X account of Ghana’s President John Mahama was hacked by internet fraudsters for a period of 48 hours

• The scam came to light on Sunday when the compromised account began posting endorsements for Solanafrica.

• The scammers falsely claimed to be “led by Ghana’s President John Mahama to enable free payments across Africa using the Solana blockchain.”

Cybercriminals took control of Ghana’s President John Mahama’s verified X account for 48 hours.

They used the account to promote a fake cryptocurrency project starting on Saturday, March 15, 2025.

The scam was discovered on Sunday when the hacked account began posting support for Solanafrica.

The fraudsters falsely claimed to be “led by Ghana’s President John Mahama to facilitate free payments across Africa using the Solana blockchain.”

This information was shared by Mahama’s spokesperson, Kwakye Ofosu, in a statement on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

After the breach was identified, the fraudulent posts were removed, but the account continued to share crypto-related content, including teasers about a new memecoin launch.
