PHOTOS: Fire destroys products in Oyo storage facility

Fire has destroyed herbal products worth several millions of naira at a storage facility in Oyo town, Oyo State.

The General Manager of the state Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, saying it occurred on Saturday at Olanlokun Junction, Obabi Street, Old Cele area.

He said the fire was reported at 10:39 am and firemen arrived six minutes later.

“On getting there, the crew met heaps of local herbs within the premises of a residential building being used to store different types of local herbs, engulfed by fire.

“We swiftly commenced firefighting operations and were able to curtail it from spreading to the main building and the nearby buildings.

“The properties worth several millions of naira were saved by the officers of the agency,” he said.

He explained that it took firefighters over three hours to fully extinguish the fire due to the large accumulation of herbs.
